Come Together, Right Now, Over Me
On Tuesday, Trump gave the longest address to a Joint Session of Congress on record. Giving himself over an hour and forty minutes of televised face-time. During this hour and forty minutes, the democrats were cut-to about a dozen times, each lasting less than ten seconds each time. In those key moments - when the Democrats had an opportunity to speak to voters of both parties and the Republican members of government, their message needed to be bold, clear, and concise.
Armies march in unison not only to intimidate the enemy but also to make themselves feel more powerful. Synchronicity creates the image of one massive force, making the enemy more likely to retreat in fear. The Democrats are in the minority by a very small margin. The two sides, marching towards one another, are nearly equal in size, one side can easily overtake the other if anyone falls out of line. The strength that comes from marching together projects outward, giving the public confidence in the group. Democrats should take advantage of the primal part of the human brain that sees strength in numbers. That same part that sees a group marching together and perceives them as much larger than themselves. Armies all across the world march in parades for that reason.
Unity - the state of being united or joined as a whole (Oxford Languages). Uniforms are the physical expression of unity. That’s a lie! False. Save Medicaid. Musk steals. Pink tops, blue and yellow scarves and ties, no kings live here t-shirts - All sent a message to the viewer, the message was, we don’t know what we’re fighting for. When a military parade marches by in their matching uniforms, it’s clear that they are all fighting for the same thing, and together they form a large mass capable of achieving it. The Democrats divided themselves into small groups. United we stand, divided we fall. A uniform gives the soldiers belonging and in turn a sense of responsibility to each other.
“No man left behind” - a commitment made to a fellow soldier. No one will be left to die on the battlefield alone. The democrats hold no such commitment to each other. Al Green heroically stood up to fight, waving his cane at the Republicans - a loud condemnation of their rhetoric. When he was shot down by the Republicans and removed from the house chamber, his fellow Democrats abandoned him. Ten sided with the republicans to censure Green.
The Democrats won’t win this battle as individuals against the republican army. They need to band together. Each and every democrat shows up to the SOTU. When the camera cuts to them, they are all holding the same sign, wearing the same colors - so the people see an army of pink or blue and yellow. Like a marching cadence, when Trump lies, they all chant, in unison. LIES. That way they will be heard loud and clear. And when one of them is singled out and removed, they all leave together, in unison. No soldier left behind.

Very well said!!!
